BURKE COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Possible charges are pending following a deadly accident Monday night that involved a Jeep and motorcycle, NC State Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred around 7:20 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, on Foxridge Drive near Ledfrord Avenue. Troopers said a 2008 Jeep Compass traveling south on along Foxridge Drive entered the path of a 2013 Kawasaki motorcycle, operated by Stanley Paige, 65, of Hickory, who was traveling north.

Highway Patrol said following the accident, Paige was rushed to Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory where he died from his injuries. Troopers said he was not wearing a helmet.

Excessive speed and alcohol are suspected contributing circumstances, Highway Patrol said.

The driver of the Jeep was not injured in the crash. During the on-scene investigation, the area was closed for about three hours. Possible charges are pending, Highway Patrol said.
