    Would-be armed robber shot, killed at Gaston County convenience store: Police

    GASTON COUNTY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A man is dead after Gaston County Police say he tried to rob a convenience store.

    Officials say on Tuesday, September 10, Victor Almodovar Jr., armed with a handgun, tried to rob Will’s Food Store on Hickory Grove Road by demanding money from an employee.

    A customer with a handgun shot Almodovar Jr. during the armed robbery, according to authorities. Almodovar Jr. was taken to Caromont Regional Hospital but later died.

    No one has been arrested, and no one else was hurt. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
