Hurricane Francine brings wet weather to the Carolinas this weekend

(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Good afternoon and happy Wednesday! It was yet another beautiful day across the Carolinas today with partly cloudy skies and comfortable conditions.

While our temperatures will continue to stay comfortable, we are expecting clouds to increase on Thursday with wet weather from Francine moving into the region as we close out the week and head into the weekend. While Francine’s impacts will be minimal in the Carolinas, we are tracking potential tropical development along the Carolinas coast early next week. Hurricane Francine is making landfall on the Louisiana coast this evening with 100 MPH winds along with storm surge and flooding rain.

As for tonight and your Thursday, partly cloudy skies are expected this evening along with low temperatures around the 60-degree mark. Clouds will be on the increase Thursday thanks to moisture pushing into the Carolinas thanks to Francine. The good news is that high pressure to our north will limit how much wet weather will be able to move in with only a few spotty showers expected for the region Thursday with highs around 80.

More showers are expected for the Carolinas both Friday and Saturday as moisture from what will be left of Francine with move through the Carolinas with scattered showers expected both days along with cooler temperatures as highs are expected to stay in the 70s.

Just as soon as leftover moisture from Francine clears out of the Carolinas, we are expecting potential tropical development off the Carolinas coast. There is still some uncertainty in the forecast in how strong this system could get, but we expect rain to move into the Carolinas later Monday and especially Tuesday depending on the final track of this system.

In the meantime, enjoy one more quiet and wonderful evening across the Carolinas before clouds and moisture move in! Have a great night!
