CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — Over 100 drivers were stopped this week in the 9100 block of Park Road, according to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department.

During the traffic operation, officers say they tracked speeds just under 80 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone.

In total, 101 drivers were stopped, which resulted in 80 speeding citations and 11 other citations.

“The goal of these speed operations is to get drivers to slow down in some of the most dangerous stretches of roads in Charlotte,” CMPD wrote.

CMPD is one of several agencies implementing Vision Zero , a plan to eliminate traffic deaths and severe injuries as well as make the roads more safe and accessible.

If you aren’t from Charlotte, you can’t understand. People seriously have no clue how to drive here. They’re either way too fast or way too slow, don’t know what merge means, and driving to the front of traffic to cut in.
