Rain to return with remnants of Francine

(PINPOINT WEATHER) — It’s been since September 1 that we’ve seen any appreciable rain in the area, but our dry stretch is coming to an end. As the remnants of Francine churn to our west, moisture is increasing, and we’ve been seeing some light, spotty rain move into the Carolinas. It’s just the start of an unsettled stretch of weather that will last through much of next week!

It won’t be an all-weekend washout, though. It’s mainly light areas of rain coming in tonight through early Friday morning, but the showers will likely get heavier in spots by Friday afternoon and evening. A few storms could be in the mix as well.

Then it’s back to some dry time Saturday morning. Keep the umbrella handy, though we’ll see more scattered showers and storms developing by Saturday evening before some of the deeper moisture moves out for Sunday. If you’re going to the Panthers game, I’d say take a poncho or jacket, just in case. While I’m not expecting anything disruptive like lightning or severe weather, some spotty rain still can’t be ruled out.

Heading into next week, another area of low pressure looks to develop off the Carolina coast. This will swing in more rounds of rain on Monday & Tuesday.

Tonight: Spotty rain possible. Low 67.

Friday: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers & a few storms. High 78.
