Potential tropical cyclone could push rainfall into the Carolinas early in the week

(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Good evening and happy Sunday Funday! After a pleasant day across the Carolinas, a developing tropical cyclone along the coast is going to push a significant amount of rainfall into the Carolinas on Monday and Tuesday. Potential Tropical Cyclone 8 is forecast to develop into Tropical Storm Helene before making landfall near or just south of Myrtle Beach early Monday afternoon. After moving inland the remnants of the storm will keep shower chance around throughout the week before we finally dry out next weekend.

As we go through this evening clouds will be on the increase across the Carolinas with even and isolated showers possible, but we do expect dry weather overnight with lows in the mid-60s. Monday we are expecting clouds all day long with rain moving in from southeast to northwest as the center of PTC 8 moves inland. Expect wet weather from later Monday afternoon until as late as Wednesday morning. Thanks to the rain temperatures will be cooler with highs in the low to mid-70s Monday and Tuesday. Due to the shifting track of the storm, up to three inches of rain is now possible in the region.

Even after the low moves out of the Carolinas scattered showers will linger across the eastern third of the country through the rest of the week. Somewhat drier weather will allow our temperatures to rebound back into the 80s for Wednesday and Thursday with constantly dry weather returning once we get to the weekend.

In the meantime, get ready for a dreary next couple of days! Have a great week!
