Pinpoint Weather Alert: PM rain from tropical storm remnants in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE ( PINPOINT WEATHER ) — After a pleasant weekend that finished off breezy we’re now shifting our attention to rain as a potential tropical cyclone churns off the SC coast.

Mid to upper 60s and low 70s have taken hold Monday morning but we don’t expect temperatures to fluctuate too much. Clouds will build throughout the morning ahead of late-morning showers and moderate rainfall.

Potential Tropical Storm Eight will track closer to South Carolina and aim toward Myrtle Beach before making landfall later today. If winds continue to increase, Helene would develop before making landfall and tracking north towards Charlotte.

Rain picks up from Monday afternoon into this evening, starting east of I-77 but then increasing in intensity as showers pick up throughout the day. The heaviest rain will be this afternoon and evening with anywhere from 2 to 4 inches possible by Tuesday night.

Rain will likely stick around overnight heading into Tuesday but becoming spottier at times. We’ll rebound into the mid-70s for the second day of the work week as pockets of sunshine start to peak through.

We’ll host spotty rain chances through Wednesday and Thursday as the storm pushes further north. The 80s will return Wednesday and stick around for the second half of the work week. We’ll see partly cloudy skies and mid to upper 70s take hold by this weekend.
