CONCORD, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A family and their pets are safe after a house fire broke out early Monday morning.

Around 9:49 a.m., the Concord Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 4630 Falcon Chase Drive SW in Concord. Firefighters were less than five minutes away and saw smoke showing from the home.

The residents were not home when the fire started, however, one resident returned to the home and was on scene with first responders.

The resident told firefighters that one of their dogs was still inside the home. Two other dogs had run outside on their own.

Firefighters were able to locate and safely remove the third dog from the home. It was reunited with its owner and did not require medical care.

In total, four engine companies, two ladder companies, three battalion chiefs and one safety officer responded with a total of 28 firefighters.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
