(QUEEN CITY NEWS) — There are several school districts east of Charlotte either closing or operating on a two-hour delay Tuesday, Sept. 17, due to expected severe weather.

    • Anson County Schools will be closed for students. The district cites the forecast of high winds and possible power outages. This will be an optional workday for employees with a two-hour delay, and the closure means Oct. 25 will become a regular school day.
    • Union County Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay. All schools and offices will open and buses will run two hours later than the normal time.
    • Stanly County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay
    • Richmond County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay.

The area is experiencing the effects of Potential Tropical Cyclone Eight moving in off the coast. Heavy rain and high winds entered the Charlotte area Monday evening and are expected through Tuesday morning. A Flood Watch and Wind Advisories have been issued for Charlotte and the eastern counties.
