    Statesville man charged with elderly identity theft involving family member: Sheriff

    IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) – A Statesville man has been charged with identity theft involving an elderly family member, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office announced.

    An investigation was launched after a report was received regarding Joshua Mayberry, 39, of Statesville. An initial investigation stated that an elderly victim had his identity stolen using credit cards and other financial accounts by an unauthorized person.

    The crimes took place from 2018 through 2024, the sheriff’s office said.

    Mayberry was arrested and faces multiple charges including felony identity theft and obtaining property under false pretence. He is being held on a $75,000 secured bond.
