    Man hit and killed by train in Gastonia early Tuesday morning: Police

    GASTONIA, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A man has died after being hit by a train early Tuesday morning, according to the Gastonia Police Department.

    The accident happened around 4 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 1800 W. Franklin Blvd. Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

    According to police, it was an eastbound freight train heading to Charlotte when it struck the pedestrian.
