    Multiple people injured in crash involving at least 9 vehicles in west Charlotte

    CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — At least nine people are hurt following a serious accident in west Charlotte Wednesday morning, according to Medic and CMPD.

    The multi-vehicle crash was reported around 8:50 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Wilkinson Blvd and Old Dowd Road. Medic reports eight people sustained minor injuries and one person was transported to CMC with serious injuries.

    CMPD said the inbound lanes of Wilkson Blvd at Old Dowd Road were closed due to the wreck that involved at least nine vehicles.

    “Please avoid the area and seek an alternate route,” CMPD said Wednesday morning.

    Drivers were encouraged to take Moores Chapel Road to I-85 to avoid the multi-vehicle wreck.

    “Due to a multi-vehicle accident, Wilkinson Blvd. is closed in both directions from Belmont to Old Dowd Road. Please allow extra time and seek an alternate route if coming to CLT airport,” authorities said on Wednesday morning.

    As of 11 a.m. on Wednesday, all lanes have reopened.
