LINVILLE RIVER ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — First responders are helping those impacted by flooding.

The Lake James Fire & Rescue and a rescue squad say they assisted five people around 9 a.m. on Thursday, September 26, who tried to flee their homes but could not get out.

This incident happened in the Fonta Flora community west of Monraganton. A boat was used to get the five to safety, and no one was hurt. Emergency medical services also responded to the incident.

Lake James is currently spilling over, and by Friday afternoon, it’s expected to be 10 feet above the full pond. That would be the highest lake level ever reached at Lake James.
