    Queen City News, journalists named finalists for 11 Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas awards

    (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas has announced the finalists for its 2024 awards , including nine categories from Queen City News.

    The awards recognize TV, radio, and digital journalists and news organizations across North Carolina and South Carolina.

    Queen City News and members of the QCN family were recognized in the TV I division, which includes news organizations with 20 or more full-time employees and within markets encompassing Charlotte, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point, Raleigh-Durham, Greenville-Spartanburg, Asheville, and Columbia.

    In the Individual Division , Alicia Barnes is a finalist for TV News Anchor of the Year (TV I) , and Morgan Frances and Alicia Barnes are finalists for TV News Anchor Team of the Year (TV I)

    In the Community Impact category, reporter Maureen Wurtz and photojournalist Jenna Pinto are finalists for their story on North Carolina’s radar gap .

    In the General News category, news director Casey Clark, reporter Maureen Wurtz, and photojournalists Jenna Pinto, Jack Anderson, and Kevin Pinto have been listed as finalists for their piece, Blue Ridge Runs Red.

    Under the Health-Medicine category, Maureen Wurtz and Jenna Pinto were recognized as finalists for their coverage of Ciara’s story .

    For the Political/Election category, reporter and anchor Robin Kanady and photojournalist Corey Epps have been declared finalists for their story, Injustice to Voters .

    Under the Social Reform category, reporter MayCay Beeler and photojournalist Anthony Shephard have been listed as finalists for their story, Putting the Squeeze on Bigger Passengers .

    For Special Report , investigative reporter Jody Barr and news director Casey Clark have been listed as finalists for their series, Unfinished Business .

    In the Sports Special category, Queen City News is listed as a finalist for our TopCats special, Unfinished Business, Episode 2 .

    For Long-Form Interview , Queen City News is a finalist for our Black Charlotte in 2024 special .

    Queen City News is also a finalist in the Outstanding News Operation category.

    Winners will be named on Nov. 9, 2024.
