I-85 South closed in Gastonia after tree blocks interstate, crash involving semi-truck

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY ENWS ) — Interstate 85 southbound is shut down Friday morning following a crash involving a semi-truck and tree blocking the interstate.

According to Gastonia Police, the interstate is closed near Exit 19 following the wreck. Traffic is currently being diverted onto Ozark.

The area is projected to reopen by 12:30 p.m. Friday.

No word on what caused the accident at this time. Queen City News has reached out to Gastonia Police and NC State Highway Patrol for further information.
