    App State football game canceled in wake of devastating Helene storm

    ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — The Appalachian State football game Saturday against Liberty has been canceled in the wake of Hurricane Helene, which has now been downgraded to a tropical storm.

    The game will not be rescheduled, the school said on Friday.

    Located in Boone, the severe storm devastated the area with flooding and widespread power outages. The Mountaineers (2-2) were scheduled to play the Flames on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

    A lacrosse match scheduled for Friday has also been canceled.
