    Charlotte area school districts closed or e-learning on Monday

    CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — Multiple school districts in North Carolina announced they’ll have no class or a remote learning day on Monday, Sept. 30, due to road conditions and power outages from Helene.

    Schools closed for students:

    • Alexander County Schools
    • Ashe County Schools (closed all week)
    • Avery County Schools (closed Monday and Tuesday)
    • Burke County Schools (closed Monday thru Wednesday)
    • Caldwell County Schools
    • Catawba County Schools
      • Hickory Schools
      • Newton-Conover City Schools (Kid connection open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
    • Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools
    • Cleveland County Schools
    • Watauga County Schools (closed all week)
    • Chester County, S.C. Schools
    • York County District 1 (York)
    • York County District 2 (Clover)
    • York County District 3 (Rock Hill)

    Schools with an e-learning day:

    • Gaston County Schools
    • Iredell-Statesville Schools

    COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

    • App State: Closed all week
    • Caldwell Community College and Tech. Institute: Closed Monday and Tuesday
    • Catawba Valley Community College: No Classes Monday
    • Cleveland Community College: Closed Monday and Tuesday
    • Gardner-Webb University: Closed Monday
    • Lees-McRae College: Closed all week
    • Lenoir-Rhyne University: No Classes Monday
    • Western Piedmont Community College: No Classes All Week
    • Winthrop University: No Classes Monday and Tuesday
    Biden approves Disaster Declaration for 25 NC counties

    In most districts, teachers can treat it as an optional workday if they have power and/or the driving conditions are safe for them.

    School officials say conditions will be monitored throughout the county to determine if any other delays/cancellations are necessary for the rest of the week.

    WONDER WHY? They don't put the most important things that run our country day and night in a bullet proof case?Like substations and important things as such into a bullet proof case in the first place?It may cost more money now.But think about all of the money you would save if nobody could destroy a substation like what happened in the state of North Carolina? One person died because of it. Isn't one life to many to lose in a situation like this?

    Question?Why didn't they put the boxes on the upper part of the tower instead of on the ground? I believe that they could have dodge a bullet in a case like this?Especially when you have flooding in the area?
