SOUTH CAROLINA (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster says the storm has dealt a major blow to the state.

McMaster says one of the biggest challenges cleanup crews are dealing with is downed power lines wrapped in all the debris.

The governor says at the height of the storm, there were 1.3 million power outages. Today, they are down to less than 900,000.

“We haven’t seen anything quite like this before, particularly in this part of the state. But it’s a devastating blow, but we can make it through. All we have to do when we get that debris cleared is then we can get in and the filling stations and all the stores without electricity, including some of the cell towers that aren’t working, we are really in the dark in some places, but it’s going to take patience but we’re getting there we’re making steady progress,” Governor McMaster said.

He also discussed that the death toll now stands at 25 .
