    More than 30 killed in South Carolina from Helene: SCDPS

    SOUTH CAROLINA ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — The updated death toll in South Carolina due to Hurricane Helene has risen to 36 fatalities, according to the SC Department of Public Safety.

    Of the 36 deaths, four are in the Queen City News viewing area.

    As of 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, here are the number of deaths in each county:

    • Aiken- 6
    • Anderson- 4
    • Chester- 2
    • Chesterfield- 1
    • Greenville- 6
    • Greenwood- 1
    • Newberry- 2
    • Richland- 1
    • Saluda- 3
    • Spartanburg- 6
    • York- 1
    • Laurens- 3

    The previous total released at 8 a.m. on Tuesday was 33.
