Those animals will soon be put up for adoption at a discounted rate.

Since the shelter now has to make room for even more animals coming from western North Carolina, all adoptions through Thursday, October 3 are 50% off.

All adoptions are first come, first served. You can view the available animals at the Humane Society of Charlotte website. or visit anytime when they’re open.

They are located at 1348 Parker Drive in Charlotte and are open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

HSC also encourages donating to the Asheville Humane Society, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue and/or the BISSELL Pet Foundation. They are also accepting supply donations.

According to the Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, approximately 150 animals were displaced and are in need of temporary foster homes. After the storm moved out, a heartbreaking discovery showed that there was no longer a shelter for animals to return to.

All three buildings, along with all three animal transport vehicles and their mobile medical unit were completely destroyed.
