    No classes at App State through Oct. 15 after devastating storm

    BOONE, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — Students at Appalachian State will not return to class until October 15 in light of the deadly storm and catastrophic damage caused in its wake.

    The announcement, made on Wednesday, includes both the main Boone campus as well as the Hickory campus. “Residence halls, dining facilities, and campus medical facilities remain operational.”

    The university already had a previously scheduled fall break that was set to take place October 14-15.

    “Off-campus students, faculty, and staff in need of shelter should call 1-800-RED-CROSS 733-2767,” campus officials said.
