    I-40 and I-26 from NC to TN remain closed, interstate access limited across Western NC

    ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — Dangerous road conditions remain across Western North Carolina on Thursday. There are shortages of water, food, gas, power and communications.

    Access remains limited to local and hurricane response traffic.

    According to the NC Department of Transportation, drivers can’t get from North Carolina to Tennessee via I-40 or I-26.

    “There may be closed roads not listed online, as many areas are not able to report at this time,” NCDOT said on Thursday.

    People evacuating the Asheville area can still use I-40 east or I-26 east.
