    Man charged with murder after shooting in Burke County: Sheriff

    BURKE COUNTY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A man has been charged with murder after a man was shot and killed in Morganton, according to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.

    Around 11:25 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, deputies responded to a shooting death at 5319 Mountain View Blvd. When they arrived, they found 69-year-old Joel Lynn McNabb dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

    Officials say Teddy Justin Rathbone, 34, was quickly identified as the suspect. Around 5:30 p.m. on Monday, the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office found Rathbone and took him into custody.

    Documents show he is being held without bond for murder in the Burke County Jail.

    why did it take 6 hours to locate him if his girlfriend was there with him at the home when Lynn was murdered. why did they leave and why she didn't call 911. Teddy took the girlfriend and my granddaughter to the girlfriend to her grandmother's house and then left by his self.
