CORNELIUS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Six months after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, D9 Brewing Company announced it’s moving out of its flagship location.

D9 has operated off Old Statesville Road in Cornelius since 2015, but owners announced Monday that the company is not renewing its lease.

In April, founder Andrew Durstewitz and his team filed for Chapter 11 protection in an effort to reorganize. The move came as several Charlotte-area breweries have closed their doors .

They wrote the following on the latest change:

    To our amazing D9 community:

Things are changing, but we’re not going away. While we’ve made the tough decision not to renew our lease on our current location, this is far from the end of our journey. Instead, it’s the beginning of an exciting new chapter. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be moving our brew system to another location in hopes of getting back to brewing soon.

We are incredibly proud of what we’ve built together and are so grateful for the support you’ve shown us over the years. As we take this time to plan our next steps, we want you to know that we’re committed to bringing you the craft beer you love.

At one point, D9 had expanded to three locations in North Carolina, including uptown Charlotte and Hendersonville, but the latter two have closed since 2021. It’s also part of the Newton-based Bevana Partners brewery group.

D9 produces more than 310,000 gallons of beer annually at its Treynorth Drive site, with distribution throughout the Eastern seaboard.

“This isn’t a goodbye — just a pause,” they wrote. “We’ll keep you posted as we navigate this transition, and we hope to have some exciting news to share in the near future. Until then, thank you for being a part of our journey. Cheers to what’s next!”
