    I-77 crash causing significant backups in Lake Norman area

    CORNELIUS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One lane is closed and one person is injured frmo a crash on Interstate 77 in north Mecklenburg County Wednesday afternoon.

    According to N.C. Department of Transportation, the incident occurred around 5:40 p.m. on I-77 South at Exit 28 for West Catawba Avenue. The right lane is blocked prior to the ramp.

    Medic officials say one person was treated with non-life-threatening injuries.

    The incident is causing backups well into Mooresville. The scene is expected to clear by 6:45 p.m.
