CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Hurricane relief efforts were front and center at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport Wednesday morning.

American Airlines teamed up with the organization, Feeding America to assemble more than 12,000 hygiene kits.

Hundreds of volunteers put together essential items that many take for granted in times of crisis after a natural disaster.

American Airlines also donated nearly 30 pallets of food to Feeding America. Those pallets will go out to people across Asheville and the surrounding areas. The airline is also helping ship nearly 5,000 lbs of baby formula, wipes and diapers.
