    Victim ID’d in east Charlotte homicide investigation: CMPD

    CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A homicide investigation is underway in east Charlotte Monday morning, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

    Around 7 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, officers responded to the 3600 block of North Sharon Amity Road for a welfare check. As officers arrived, they found a man with an apparent gunshot wound who was pronounced dead at the scene.

    QCN went to the scene and it appeared a body was found behind a nearby restaurant.

    Officials identified the victim as 25-year-old Jose Antonio Mejia-Gaona.

    The circumstances surrounding the homicide and any arrests are unknown at this time. Anyone with information should call Det. Carter at 704-432-TIPS or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
