GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – The Red Cross is asking for volunteers to help with assessing the damage Helene left to homes across the Upstate and Western North Carolina.

Red Cross representatives are asking for volunteers to commit to an hour of training, and then go into neighborhoods to take pictures of damaged homes.

Representatives said the volunteers would submit the pictures and the location where they were taken to the Red Cross Mobile App.

Volunteers are asked to work for six to eight hours, but the organization said they are grateful to anyone who can spare a couple of hours to get the job done.

The organization told 7NEWS it was deeply impacted after Helene caused them to lose out on nearly 2,000 blood donations.

Anyone who’d like to volunteer is asked to email VolunteerHelene@redcross.org. They can also donate by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or texting HELENE to 9-0-9-9-9.
