Deadly wreck shuts down I-85 near I-77 exit in north Charlotte

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A deadly wreck shut down I-85 southbound lanes Wednesday morning, the North Carolina Department of Transportation said Wednesday.

The incident occurred around 5:45 a.m. near the I-77 exit. CMPD said drivers should seek alternate routes.

Roadways reopened by 7 a.m.

Details surrounding the wreck have not yet been released. Queen City News has reached out to Highway Patrol and we’ll have more details as they come into the newsroom.
