LINCOLNTON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A suspect accused of an assault this week at a Dollar General store in Lincolnton is now facing charges, the Lincolnton Police Department announced on Friday.

28-year-old Shelby resident Tavaz Brooks faces multiple charges including assault with a deadly weapon and gun possession as a felon.

An initial investigation stated that Brooks was at the Dollar General location on Center Drive Wednesday around 4:25 p.m. When officers arrived on scene, they said multiple women were located who had been involved in a physical disturbance. Officers were told that during the disturbance Brooks went back to his vehicle to retrieve a gun and then came back, fired multiple shots in the air, and then pistol-whipped a female victim before fleeing the scene..
