    Man drowns near Lake Norman, ruled accidental: Sheriff

    CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — An investigation is underway after a man drowned near Lake Norman, the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Monday.

    Emergency personnel responded to the incident over the weekend near Lake Norman on the Catawba River on Clyde Road around 4:26 p.m. where they said a man’s body was later recovered. The drowning has been deemed accidental, according to the sheriff’s office.

    The exact circumstances surrounding the drowning have not yet been released, however, a boat was not involved. Queen City News has reached out to the sheriff’s office and will have more details once they’ve been released.
