July is National Parks and Recreation Month and Queen Creek will be celebrating with several events.

“The town of Queen Creek offers award-winning parks, an extensive trail system with the Queen Creek and Sonoqui washes and the Trails at Horseshoe Park, along with a variety of family friendly recreation classes and opportunities,” according to a press release from the town.

The National Recreation and Park Association has selected the theme “Where You Belong”  for this year, celebrating “the many ways parks and recreation foster a sense of belonging in the community by providing welcoming and inclusive programs, services for all ages and abilities, and safe, accessible spaces to build meaningful connections,” the release stated.

In honor of Park and Recreation Month, the Queen Creek Parks and Recreation division is hosting a variety of activities throughout the month:

Root Beer Floats with Recreation takes place from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 9 at the Library Recreation Annex, 21802 S. Ellsworth Road. The community is invited to celebrate Parks and Recreation Month with free root beer floats while learning more about programming and project updates. Learn more.

The ribbon cutting for phase II of Mansel Carter Oasis Park starts at 7:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 10 at 19535 E. Appleby Road. After a short ribbon-cutting ceremony, a free tennis clinic will take place from 7:45 to 8:45 a.m. Learn more.

The QC Splash Pad Party takes place from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 12 at Mansel Carter Oasis Park. The community is invited to join the Parks and Recreation team at the slash pad for a night of splashing, music and fun. Refreshments will be available for purchase through onsite food trucks. Meanwhile, the Queen Creek Parks and Recreation team is already planning a lineup of fall events including Founders’ Day and the Queen Creek Hometown Christmas. Businesses, organizations and individuals are invited to participate. Learn more.

More parks and recreation locations are opening in Queen Creek. Frontier Family Park, the new 85-acre park on Signal Butte Road north of Queen Creek Road, opened in June. The town’s Recreation and Aquatic Center, which will be located at Frontier Family Park, is set to open in 2025.

For residents interested in joining the Parks and Recreation team, the department is hiring part-time recreation aides. To apply, visit QueenCreekAZ.gov/jobs .
