Mets jinx Sal Licata strikes again by prematurely declaring the NL Wild Card race over
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. WFAN host Sal Licata seems to have forgotten what made him famous for all of the wrong reasons back in 2022 when he declared the NL East race to be over. A proclamation made on May 31 with the New York Mets at 34-17 holding a 10.5 game lead over the 23-27 Atlanta Braves, Licata is toying with the baseball gods.
Morning Briefing: Mets Adjusting Plans to Find Pitching
After a busy day of trades on Sunday, Andy Martino of SNY reported that the Mets’ trade deadline expectations have shifted due to an “insane” pitching market. Martino added that the Mets are looking to add a depth starter and another reliever and seem reluctant to part with any of their top prospects.
Five Potential Deadline Starter Replacements For Kodai Senga
The New York Mets received some unfortunate news Saturday, as manager Carlos Mendoza confirmed to reporters prior to the game that newly-returned Mets ace Kodai Senga is likely to miss the remainder of the regular season. Senga made his long-awaited return on Friday, however, let the game early with what was confirmed a high-grade left calf strain.
What would it have cost the Mets to trade for Carlos Estevez?
The New York Mets could’ve used a reliever like Carlos Estevez in the bullpen. Instead of going to war with us, he’ll suit up for the rival Philadelphia Phillies. Philadelphia acquired him from the Los Angeles Angels for a pair of pitching prospects with MLB ETAs of 2026. Although previously not ranked highly on MLB Pipeline’s prospect list for Philadelphia, George Klassen moves up to third for the Angels and Samuel Aldegheri goes in at number eight.
3 Mets lessons to take into the trade deadline after splitting with the Braves
The four-game series against the Atlanta Braves started well then took a turn. A split is about the best we could have hoped for from the New York Mets. It’s winning the first two in such glorious fashion and then putting up a pair of weak performances to close out the series that frustrates. Momentum is not on their side.
Game Chat: Braves vs. Mets, 1:40 P.M.
RHP Reynaldo López (7-4, 2.12) vs. LHP David Peterson (5-0, 3.14) The Atlanta Braves snapped the New York Mets winning streak Saturday afternoon setting up a critical last game of the four-game series. A Mets loss today splits the series, which isn’t disastrous by any means, but would lose the team more ground in the tightly-contested wild card race. A win today takes the series and gets the momentum back on track heading into the trade deadline on Tuesday.
Mets Morning News: Decisions
The Mets once again displayed their immense talent for making pretty good things seem like complete garbage by doing it in the wrong order as they split a four game series with the Braves in a 9-2 loss. Choose your recap: Amazin’ Avenue, Faith and Fear in Flushing, NY Post,...
Mets Minors Recap: Sean Reid-Foley Makes Rehab Appearance
Perhaps the biggest storyline in the Mets minor leagues on Sunday was reliever Sean Reid-Foley making a rehab appearance with the Brooklyn Cyclones. Reid-Foley struggled, but what matters most is how he feels physically. He was fantastic earlier this year for the Mets, posting a 1.66 ERA in 21 2/3 innings before his injury.

The New York Mets starting rotation has mastered the Minnesota Twins over the first two games of this series. First, Jose Quintana allowed one run over six innings and bounced back after a rough first inning. Then, on Tuesday night, Sean Manaea took it another step further with arguably his best start in a Mets uniform.
