The streets of Middle Village are about to smell a lot sweeter. Gourmet dessert shop concept Cookies N’ Cream is on the horizon for Queens and plans to open at 64-62 Dry Harbor Rd this summer.

According to a press release from Cookies N’ Cream, the Westchester-based dessert shop is beginning to franchise across the tri-state area, with plans to franchise nation-wide in the future. The brand has two open locations currently: one in Bronxville and another in Yonkers.

“Our concept combines two of the most popular and widely consumed dessert staples,” Cookies N’ Cream’s founder Joe Edwards shared in the press release. “I am thrilled that our franchisees, Frank Barbone and Sal Fescina are bringing our in-demand dessert concept to Queens.”

Barbone and Fescina are working together to renovate the storefront along Dry Harbor Road to serve two of the most popular desserts to passersby looking for a sweet treat in the summertime.

What Now NY connected with Sal Fescina over the phone for an interview.

“I first encountered Cookies N’ Cream at the store in Bronxville and realized the potential in this concept,” said Fescina. “There’s nothing better than ice cream and cookies, and based on the reception we are already getting from the community, people can’t wait for it to be open.”

Cookies N’ Cream’s menu features 24 cookie choices including childhood favorites and modern takes on classic flavors. There are also eight “cookie creations” including stuffed cookies and combinations of cookies with sweet toppings. For the ice cream component, Cookies N’ Cream offers dozens of ice cream and sorbet flavors as well as vegan options.

Sebastian Parada will be manager of the Cookies N’ Cream Middle village location.

“There’s nothing like it around here,” Parada said of Cookies N’ Cream’s concept. “There’s tons of gelato but not ice cream, and while there are bakeries there are no dedicated cookie shops.”

Parada is the chef and manager of the restaurant next door, Bridie’s Grill Room , which opened its current location earlier this year according to the tavern’s Instagram page. Parada, Barbone and Fescina all have close ties to the area.

Fescina grew up in the area and has many family members still living in the area. The occasional patronage of his family aside, Fescina is confident that Cookies N’ Cream Middle Village’s unique offerings will be a neighborhood hit.

“At the end of the day, we’re community guys and want everyone to know that we are here for this community. We hope everyone will stop by and give Cookies N’ Cream a shot.”

Fescina shared that Cookies N’ Cream Middle Village is approximately 90% done with construction. They hope to open the day after Memorial Day, May 28th.
