    As hundreds are dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl that killed at least six people in the southeast Caribbean, one Brooklynite is stuck in Jamaica right now and shared her survival story with News 12. Sharon Gordon, of Flatbush, has been in Jamaica since Saturday. She said this hurricane was so powerful and she's just happy to be alive. "I was scared when I heard the winds and saw the waves because it was a time that we can see the sea and then it was the time that you couldn't see anything, and all you saw was the trees just blowing and bending," Gordon said. Gordon shared video footage with News 12 of what she saw. There were heavy winds in Montego Bay, and she took videos from Half-Moon, a resort she's staying at. The hurricane hit at 2 p.m. Wednesday and this is what it looked like when it started. right now, everything is closed, and the island is doing a cleanup. The airport is expected to reopen after 6 p.m. today. Gordon told News 12 every flight leaving the island is closed but flights are coming in. She said the resort stocked her up with water and food and she's supposed to head home on Friday. She said times like this reminds her what matters. "We just kept praying and reading scripture and just feeling the presence of almighty God with us," Gordon said. Gordon said despite these conditions, she's blessed to be safe and taking the proper steps to return home. "
