NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — For the fans who don’t want to worry about parking next time the New York Mets hit the diamond at Citi Field, the Amazins’, in partnership with Rally, have developed a new fan shuttle to connect baseball supporters and help make gameday travel easier.

The Bus Rideshare Fan Shuttle will cart fans from “Rally points”—local Mets-focused sports bars where fans can mingle before the game chosen by the mass mobility service company—to Citi Field.

The initial route brings fans into Queens from Long Island, with stops at participating locations like Rudi’s Bar & Grill in Patchogue, Lily Flanagan’s in Babylon and The Main Event in Farmingdale.

“The Mets are one of baseball’s most popular teams and have an incredibly loyal fanbase. But even with New York City’s exceptional mass transit system, it can be tough to get to games,” Rally founder Numaan Akram said. “With Rally, Mets fans can travel from wherever they are, with fans just like them, arrive energized for the game, and know they’ll be traveling home safely in comfort.”

Fans can also create their own rides to Citi Field or find crowdsourced bus trips to a game or special event through the Rally app. The app creates pop-up bus stops where fans can book round-trip travel, joined by other fans.

The partnership kicks off with home games on July 27 against the Atlanta Braves, Aug. 17 against the Miami Marlins and Sept. 7 against the Cincinnati Reds.

“As we look to continuously improve the overall Mets fan experience, we must ensure that we are always seeking to expand the quality and quantity of transportation options to Citi Field, beyond driving or taking NYC public transportation,” vice president of transportation strategies at the New York Mets LJ Nassivera said.

Amenities on Rally buses include Wi-Fi, video screens and restrooms. Riders are allowed to bring food and beverage onto the vehicle and store belongings on the bus during the game for safekeeping, the company said.

Rally does not own buses itself, but instead as a rideshare service networks together thousands of small private bus operators through its technology platform.

“Just like the launch of CitiBike and an expanded rideshare area earlier this year, this partnership with Rally gives our fanbase a new and exciting way to get to-and-from games to support their favorite team,” Nassivera said.
