Yankees lineup vs Mets features new leadoff hitter for Subway Series game on Tuesday

It's the third meeting of the 2024 Subway Series as the Yankees host the Mets for a two-game set beginning Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium.

However, this one will look a lot different on the Yankees side.

Manager Aaron Boone continues to tinker and adjust his starting lineup on a daily basis the past few weeks, with Jahmai Jones batting leadoff and J.D. Davis in the cleanup spot for the Bronx Bombers this evening. Catcher Carlos Narvaez will also make his first start behind the plate in a Yankees' uniform, batting eighth after making his debut in Pinstripes in a pinch-hit at bat on Saturday afternoon versus the Rays.

The Mets dominated the first two games of 2024 versus the Yankees, winning both contests by a combined score of 21-9 at Citi Field nearly a month ago.

This time it's the Yankees' turn to enjoy home-field advantage, as they look to right the ship following a four-game split with the Rays and a series win over the Orioles prior to the All-Star Break.

Before that stretch, the Bronx Bombers were playing their worst baseball of the season to date, as they finished only one game above .500 (14-13) in June after an unreal month of May where they won 21 of 28 games.

After a slow start to their 2024 campaign, the Mets have bounced back nicely, having won or split every series this month. They haven't lost a series on the road since May 20-22 when they were swept by the Guardians in Cleveland.

With their recent success, the Mets have vaulted all the way up the National League standings as they enter the Subway Series holding the third and final wild card spot.
