Mets Complete Total Embarrassment Of Yankees Not Seen In 11 Years

The New York Mets are on a roll! Building off how they finished the first half of the season, they faced cross-town rival Yankees in another Subway Series. In a rather surprising twist, the Mets easily swept the Pinstripes in the final Subway Series of the season.

The Mets finished off the series in style. In the final game of the series, the Mets dumped 12 runs on the Yankees while limiting them to just three runs.

The series sweep means that the Mets have swept their season series against the Yankees this year. It's the first time that the team from Queens swept the Subway Series, per @MLBStats.

The Mets capitalized on a Yankees team that hasn't quite captured the same form they had earlier this season. Shortstop Francisco Lindor had two homers and accounted for five of the team's twelve runs.

The Mets have gone toe-to-toe with the Yankees before and even won some of the season series. However, sweeping their rivals fully must feel like a different high. They look to bring that energy to their next series against their division rivals Atlanta Braves.
