Subway Series Turns Violent With Post-Game Brawl Between Yankees, Mets Fans

It’s not an ideal time to be a fan of the New York Yankees.

Following Tuesday’s 3-2 loss to the cross-town rival New York Mets in Game 1 of the Subway Series at Yankee Stadium, the battle for New York shifted from the field to the stands as video started circulating on social media of fans of both teams engaging in a wild post-game brawl.

More than a dozen people were involved in the scuffle, including two women who were seen grappling on the ground while exchanging punches. A male Yankees fan is also seen knocking a Mets fan to the ground with a wild haymaker.

The same Mets fans was taken to the ground by a different Yankees fan just seconds later. Security ultimately intervened and broke things up toward the end of the 29-second video clip, which can be seen below.

The NYPD says the incident didn’t lead to any arrests.

Wednesday’s 12-3 defeat gave the Mets their first Subway Series season sweep over the Yankees since 2013. The Yankees have now lost four of their first six games post-All-Star break. They also lost 18 of their final 26 games before the All-Star break.
