Top Mets prospect Brandon Sproat strikes out final 11 hitters in unreal Double-A gem

Get to know the name Brandon Sproat.

The Mets pitching prospect enjoyed one of his best Minor League starts with the organization since being selected in the second round of the 2023 MLB Draft, striking out a career-high 13 hitters — including in the final 11 batters he faced — in five scoreless innings.

Sproat only allowed two hits and didn’t walk a single hitter in the dominant effort.

The MLB Pipeline top-100 prospect now has made 11 starts with the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies this season, and after his start against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats — Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays — he now has a 2.45 ERA.

The 23-year-old Sproat also has 77 strikeouts in Double-A across 62 1/3 innings.

For his strong pitching this season, Sproat — who started the year with the High-A Brooklyn Cyclones — was selected to be in the MLB Futures All-Star Game, which features the game’s best prospects.

He threw 12 pitches in a scoreless July outing at Globe Life Field in Texas.

Sproat played his college ball at the University of Florida, as the Pensacola native pitched in the College World Series with the Gators in 2023.
