The St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets are set for a rare one game stop after not being able to finish their series together in Queens a few months ago. The game is a makeup due to inclement weather of a game that was postponed on May 8th. What was supposed to be an off day for the Cardinals will be a late afternoon contest before welcoming in the Tampa Bay Rays for three games.

Monday, August 5th: Andre Pallante vs. Sean Manaea

The Cardinals will go with Andre Pallante (4-5, 4.04 ERA) for this one game visit for the Mets. Pallante is currently holding a rotation spot for St. Louis, but with the addition of Erick Fedde at the Trade Deadline, the pitcher could be up in limbo after this appearance. That just adds one more reason for him to have a great start. In his last outing, Pallante went five full innings and threw over 90 pitches in what might have been one of the toughest nights to pitch on so far this season. The heat impacted Pallante on the mound as he threw a couple over the head of catcher Willson Contreas and to the backstop. He finished the day allowing three runs on seven hits and recorded five strikeouts and two walks.

As for the Mets, the team will go with veteran Sean Manaea (7-4, 3.50 ERA) on the mound at Busch Stadium. Manaea is coming off a seven inning shutout performance against the Minnesota Twins. He had a good month in July as he posted a 2.70 ERA across that span. The Cardinals will get their second look at the veteran as he pitched six innings, allowing three runs against the team at Citi Field on May 6th.
