A 16-year-old has been charged in the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Anthony Wayne Simmons Jr., with two other suspects, 19-year-old Javion Rangel and 17-year-old Carmelo Converse, arrested in connection with the crime on the Northeast Side. According to a report by FOX San Antonio, the unnamed minor appeared in juvenile court, while his alleged accomplices were charged with aggravated assault, their charges expected to escalate to murder.

Bexar County reached a historically high number of drug-overdose deaths in 2023, with 509, according to a Public Health Watch analysis of provisional federal data.
