Annual Fine Art Show winners
The 17th Annual Hoffman Global Methodist Church Fine Arts Show was held in West Milton from August 9 to 11. Those in attendance had the opportunity to vote for their top three favorite pieces among the 56 pieces on display. Tallying up those votes led to the top three winners being: "Tall Grass" by Regina Whipp in first place; "Frog in Puddle" by Tom Kinarney in second place; and "Falling Water" by Ed Rapp in third place.
Woman struck, killed by train in Springfield Township
A woman was struck and killed by a train Saturday in Springfield Township, and Lucas County authorities are asking for the public’s help identifying her. The Lucas County Coroner’s Office says that at 8:30 a.m. a white female about 30 to 40 years old was involved in the accident near the 1700 block of South Crissey Road. “She has long brown curly/wavy hair and gray-blue eyes and was wearing blue jeans, yellow patterned socks, blue T-shirt with Reading Rainbow logo, and light blue zip-up sweatshirt,” according to the coroner’s office. A cell phone found near the body was broken and not functioning. The phone case has “a cartoon image of a dinosaur with multicolor raindrops” on the back.
