$32 million federal grant to boost Toledo electric car manufacturing company and create 2,900 jobs
Toledo, Ohio – Supported by a large federal grant, a Toledo-based company is expected to be instrumental in the manufacturing of electric cars (EVs), in a major effort towards rebuilding the U.S. auto industry. Aiming to revive auto manufacturing and increase job creation in Ohio, the measure comes under the umbrella of a larger Biden administration plan with more than $32 million designated to Ohio alone.

Lima Police Department investigating body found in wooded area downtown
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Police Department is investigating a body found Monday afternoon. Around 12:30 p.m., police received a report of a body found in a wooded area on the corner of Jackson and Market Street, beside the train tracks. The body had been there for a significant amount of time and appeared to be male. There were no signs of a struggle or clues as to the cause of death where it was found. The deceased individual was sent to the Lucas County Coroner to determine their identity and cause of death, but a report may not be complete for several weeks.

Urbana FFA chapter attends National Washington Leadership Conference. This was the first time since 2018 that Urbana FFA has attended the Washington Leadership Conference (WLC). Students that attended were Sam Wilhelm (Urbana FFA President), Bryce Stambaugh (Urbana FFA Vice President), Brooklyn Randall (Urbana FFA Reporter), and Lauren Stollings (Urbana FFA Sentinel). On July 9 at 4:30 pm members arrived. ¨WLC inspires FFA members to become changemakers in their communities. Each day of the conference focuses on a different principle taught through the context of our nation’s capital. These principles include exploration, encouragement, advocacy, and service. At the end of the week, members leave with a Living to Serve Plan they can implement in their communities¨ (National FFA Website).
3-vehicle crash in Springfield involving township ambulance turns fatal

Northwestern Field Hockey will add seven members to the 2024 roster, including top recruits like Juliana Boon, Anna Krebs, and Eva Nemeth, as announced by Head Coach Tracey Fuchs. A house for sale in Maumee has gone viral on the “Zillow Gone Wild” Facebook page for an eccentric feature originally meant to deflect unwanted attention: the house is covered — floor to ceiling, inside and out — with bulletproof Lexan paneling. The house, previously owned and occupied by Trudy Stranahan of the Champion Spark Plug Company’s founding family, also boasts a robust driveway that cost an estimated $300,000 to build, plus $100,000 in fences.
