AHF relocating Arkansas hardwood manufacturing operations
“It was a difficult decision because closing a plant impacts people and their local towns,” said AHF Products president and CEO, Brian Carson. “We are extremely grateful for the dedication and service of all the employees over the years since the plant has been in operation.” The 130 employees working at the Warren plant will have employment for the next 60 days. During that time, AHF will be providing career counseling and working with several local companies to help the displaced workers find other employment.
Food Bank Touts Senior Food Pantry Network
Jonesboro, AR – (Contributed) – July 29, 2024 – In Northeast Arkansas, seniors are experiencing hunger at a staggering rate of 7.6% of the state’s population. For these seniors, the choice often comes down to essentials like groceries or medicine, groceries or rent, groceries or utilities. Recognizing this dire need, the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas, alongside other local nonprofits, started the Senior Food Pantry Network. Through the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) and the Senior Food Pantry Network, the Food Bank provides much-needed support to seniors facing food insecurity. CSFP is an income-based program available to individuals over 60 years of age who need food assistance.

CHERRY VALLEY — The Vanndale-Birdeye Water Association has informed customers that their rates may soon increase based on an ongoing rate study. The utility said Act 605 of 2021 requires all water companies to have a water rate study performed every five years.
