Harahan home catches fire, water main breaks, police say
A Harahan home went up in flames Friday afternoon, breaking a water main and reducing water pressure in an area subdivision, according to the Harahan Police Department. The home in Harahan Oaks subdivision caught fire at about 4:30 p.m. and was extinguished about an hour later. Police didn't say whether anyone was injured in the blaze.

Local man arrested for breaking windows of several local businesses
On August 15, 2024, officers investigated a case of criminal damage where a witness observed a subject, identified as Dale Neil, breaking the front windows of several businesses with rocks. The affected businesses include Citi Trends, Pizza Hut, Furniture City, Dollar General, Ollie’s, Rose’s, and O’Reilly Auto Parts. Mr. Neil admitted responsibility for all the damage.
Houma Police Department makes arrest for recent vehicle burglary
On August 14, 2024, Officers conducted a follow-up regarding a vehicle burglary that occurred on August 8th on Morningside Dr. The suspect, identified from security video as Tymone Scoby, was located in a vehicle leaving his residence on Railroad Ave. Upon contacting Mr. Scoby, he initially provided a false name and then attempted to flee on foot. After a short pursuit, Mr. Scoby was tased and subsequently arrested.

THIBODAUX, La. – Lora Benoit recently contributed $12,000 to the Nicholls Foundation to honor the memory of her son, creating the Christopher Anthony Benoit, Jr. Endowed Scholarship to benefit students in Colonel Esports and the College of Liberal Arts.
