    Shots Fired on Rideout Avenue

    LEWISTON, Maine — An investigation is currently underway after a tragic incident on Sunday night left a teenager dead in Lewiston. Lewiston police responded to a call about shots fired on Rideout Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m.

    Discovery of the Victim

    Upon arrival, police found 17-year-old Sahal Murdi lying dead in the road. This information was confirmed by Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss in a news release on Monday morning.

    Witness Accounts and Vehicle Identification

    Witnesses at the scene reported seeing two vehicles, a silver Mercedes and a black Dodge Challenger, fleeing the area immediately after the shots were fired. Law enforcement officials have identified the driver of the Mercedes, who is currently cooperating with the investigation.

    Autopsy and Ongoing Investigation

    Murdi's body has been transported to the chief medical examiner’s office, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause and manner of death. Both the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit and Lewiston police are actively investigating the incident.

    The sudden and violent death of Sahal Murdi has left the Lewiston community in shock and mourning. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation.
