    Arrest and Charges

    PORTLAND, Maine — A Portland man is facing multiple charges following a shooting incident that left a woman injured near a wellness shelter. Randy Aron, 47, was arrested Monday morning and charged with aggravated attempted murder, elevated aggravated assault, and possession of firearms by prohibited persons.

    Early Morning Incident

    The Portland Police Department reported that officers were dispatched to 5 Portland St. at approximately 2:40 a.m. after receiving a report of a shooting. The address is the location of Elena's Way Wellness Shelter.

    Victim and Immediate Response

    Upon arrival, officers found a 42-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her arm. She was quickly transported to Maine Medical Center, where her injuries were deemed non-life-threatening.

    Swift Police Action

    Less than an hour after the shooting, officers located Aron at his residence at 243 High St. The Portland Police Department's Special Reaction Team and Crisis Negotiation Team were called to the scene while a search warrant was obtained for Aron's residence.

    Arrest and Evidence

    Aron surrendered to authorities without incident and was taken into custody. During the search of his residence, police recovered a firearm believed to be connected to the shooting.
