Waterville Mystery: Police Investigate Suspicious Death at Cool Street Residence

    2024-08-19

Waterville Police Call in State Authorities After Discovery on Cool Street

WATERVILLE, Maine—Maine State Police are investigating what they describe as a “potential suspicious death” at a residence on Cool Street, just off Kennedy Memorial Drive. The investigation began early Sunday morning when Waterville police alerted state authorities to a concerning situation at 119 Cool Street.

Police Respond to Early Morning Call

At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Waterville police received a call that led them to the scene, where they deemed the circumstances suspicious enough to involve the Maine State Police. By the afternoon, investigators were seen entering and exiting the house, gathering evidence and speaking with neighbors.

“I didn’t see anything like a body being pulled out,” one neighbor told CBS13, “but I did see people walking in with cameras. They’ve been here all day asking questions, but as far as I know, I’m not sure what quite happened here.”

No Immediate Threat to Public Safety

While the details of the investigation remain under wraps, Maine State Police have assured the public that there is no immediate threat to safety. The nature of the incident and the circumstances surrounding the death are still unclear, but authorities are proceeding with caution as they work to determine exactly what transpired at the residence.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday, which may provide crucial answers in the investigation. The results of the autopsy will likely play a significant role in determining whether foul play was involved.

Community on Edge as Investigation Continues

As the investigation unfolds, the community of Waterville is left to speculate about the events on Cool Street. The presence of state police and ongoing inquiries have raised concerns among residents, but the assurance of no public threat has provided some comfort.

Waterville police and Maine State Police continue to work closely together as they seek to uncover the truth behind this potential suspicious death.
