    A Tragic Afternoon in Dresden

DRESDEN, Maine — Route 27, also known as Gardiner Road, was closed for several hours on Monday afternoon following a fatal three-vehicle crash near the intersection with Carriage Court. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office reported that the crash, which occurred around 3:20 p.m., tragically resulted in at least one fatality.

    Emergency Response and Traffic Diversions

In response to the crash, deputies and public safety personnel quickly arrived on the scene. As the investigation unfolded, the sheriff's office urged drivers to avoid the area, anticipating a prolonged closure of Route 27. Traffic was redirected to Middle Road (Route 127) as crews worked to clear the scene and investigate the cause of the accident.

Several ambulances, including those from Woolwich and Wiscasset, were seen heading south on Route 27, suggesting the severity of the incident. A volunteer firefighter at the scene informed reporters that three people were injured, with the possibility of a fourth, although this has not yet been confirmed by the sheriff's office.

    Road Reopens After Investigation

By 7 p.m., authorities had reopened Route 27 to traffic, but the investigation into the crash is ongoing. As the community mourns the loss, questions remain about the circumstances that led to the tragic collision. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office is expected to release further details as the investigation continues.
